Giants walk it off against the Padres

The Padres failed to spoil the Giants' home opener, losing to the Giants 3-2 on a walk-off double from Thairo Estrada in the bottom of the 9th. Dylan Cease delivered a quality start, allowing just 2 earned runs while striking out 7 in 6 innings. The Padres opened up the scoring with an RBI-single from Jake Cronenworth in the top of the 1st, but the Giants responded immediately on an RBI-double from Michael Conforto in the bottom half of the frame. Fernando Tatis' 3rd inning RBI-single put San Diego back on top until the 6th, when Matt Chapman's slow roller to third drove in a run. Graham Pauley did make an impressive bare-handed play to get Chapman out at first, which was nice to see from the rookie. The Padres got into trouble in the bottom of the 9th however, when Enyel De Los Santos hit Chapman with a pitch, followed by Estrada driving him in for the game-winning run. Michael King will toe the rubber for the Padres on Saturday.
