Cubs top Padres 5-1

The Padres lost a tough one to the Cubs on Tuesday night. After tossing 4 scoreless innings, Joe Musgrove ran into trouble in the 5th. Yan Gomes led off the inning with a solo homer. Musgrove then loaded the bases by issuing a walk to Ian Happ, surrendering a single to Seiya Suzuki and plunking Cody Bellinger. That would spell the end of the night for Musgrove, exiting the game with the bases loaded and no outs. Stephen Kolek entered the game to face cleanup hitter Christopher Morel, who blasted a grand slam to give the Cubs a 5-0 lead. Pinch-hitter Eguy Rosario would put the Padres on the board with a solo homer in the bottom of the 6th, but that was one of just four total hits for the Padres, who lost 5-1. Dylan Cease will face off against Kyle Hendricks in the final game of the homestand on Wednesday.
