Profar & Shildt ejected as Padres lose 5-2

The Padres lost to the Blue Jays 5-2 on Saturday, in a game that had plenty of fireworks in the first inning. Daulton Varsho blasted a 3-run homer off of Randy Vasquez, who was making his Padres debut, to put the Padres in an early 3-0 hole. The home run came after Graham Pauley's throwing error, rendering the runs unearned for Vasquez. In the bottom of the 1st inning, Jurickson Profar was ejected for arguing balls and strikes, prompting Mike Shildt to come out and argue, and he too was ejected. Xander Bogaerts' RBI-groundout in the 7th trimmed the score to 4-1, and Ha-Seong Kim drove in Jose Azocar with a single in the 8th to make it a 4-2 contest. But the Blue Jays tacked on an insurance run in the 9th, and Jordan Romano pitched a perfect 9th inning to lock down the save. The Padres will try to avoid being swept when they send Joe Musgrove to the mound on Sunday.
