Waldron delivers quality start as Padres beat Rockies 5-2

Matt Waldron pitched well on Wednesday, delivering a quality start as the Padres won their second game against the Rockies, guaranteeing at least a split. The knuckleballer allowed just one earned run on a solo homer to Ryan McMahon over six innings at altitude. Ha-Seong Kim went 2-4 including a 2-run double in the 1st inning to put the Padres on the board. Jackson Merrill moved up to 6th in the lineup and drove in two runs of his own. It was an encouraging win for the Padres on a night when they sent their 5th starter to the mound and were without Manny Machado, who is on the paternity list. The Padres will have an opportunity to take 3 out of 4 from the Rockies with a win on Thursday when Randy Vasquez makes his second start of the season.
