The Padres claimed a 6-4 win over the Reds in 10 innings on Thursday to earn their second consecutive series win and a 5-2 road trip following their home sweep by the Rockies. The Padres jumped out to an early lead thanks to a 2-out 2-run double from Manny Machado in the 1st inning. They added two more runs in the 2nd inning on a fielder's choice from Kyle Higashioka with the bases loaded and a single from Luis Arraez, who collected 4 hits and his eight straight multi-hit game. Matt Waldron struggled early on, surrendering 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks while also hitting a batter in the first two innings. But he settled down and pitched 3 scoreless innings after that.

Nick Martini tied the game with a 2-run homer in the 6th inning. The Padres failed to score the go-ahead run in the 9th inning when Ha-Seong Kim was picked off second base after hitting a 1-out double. Jeremiah Estrada struck out 5 hitters over 2 scoreless innings in the 8th and the 9th. The Padres were able to bring in 2 runs in the top of the 10th inning on an RBI-double from Fernando Tatis Jr. and a sac-fly from Jake Cronenworth, and Robert Suarez locked down the bottom of the 10th to earn his 14th save of the season. The Padres now return home for a 3-game series with the Yankees beginning on Friday.
