Darvish gives up 4 long balls in Padres 8-0 loss

The Padres lost a tough game to the Yankees 8-0 in Juan Soto's return to San Diego. Yu Darvish entered the game working on a scoreless-innings streak of 25. That streak ended quickly, when Anthony Volpe scored in the 1st inning on a sac-fly from Aaron Judge after leading off the game with a triple. Things got worse for Darvish in the 3rd inning when he allowed 3 home runs, including back-to-back home runs by Soto and Judge, with Giancarlo Stanton chipping in a solo shot as well to make it a 6-0 lead for the Yankees. Gleybor Torres took Darvish deep in the 4th inning as Darvish allowed 4 home runs in total. Meanwhile, the Padres' offense struggled, getting just 3 hits off of Yankees pitchers. Dylan Cease squares off against Marcus Stroman on Saturday.
