Padres avoid sweep with 5-2 win over Yankees

The Padres avoided being swept by the Yankees with a 5-2 victory on Sunday afternoon. Joe Musgrove pitched well in his second start since returning from the IL, allowing just one run in 5.1 innings pitched. The Padres rallied for 4 runs in the 6th inning after falling behind 1-0. Jackson Merrill grounded into an RBI-fielder's choice with the bases loaded, Manny Machado scored on an error on Ha-Seong Kim's bunt, and Luis Arraez and Fernando Tatis Jr. each contributed with RBI-singles. All in all, the Friars went 5-13 with runners in scoring position to earn a much needed win at home before welcoming the Marlins to town, who despite being in last place, have won 7 of their last 10 games.
