DirecTV Holiday Bowl moving to Snapdragon Stadium

Sports San Diego announced on Tuesday morning that they will move the DirecTV Holiday Bowl to Snapdragon Stadium beginning in December, after playing at Petco Park for the last three years.

“The DirecTV Holiday Bowl had a great run at Petco Park, and we are so appreciative to the San Diego Padres for being tremendous hosts,” Sports San Diego CEO Mark Neville said in a release. “The Holiday Bowl is an important event for San Diego, and the Padres were there for us when SDCCU Stadium was razed.”

The Holiday Bowl had previously been played for four decades in Mission Valley at the old San Diego/Qualcomm/SDCCU Stadium, prior to the stadium's demolition. At that time, the Snapdragon Stadium was still several years away from being finished, so the the game was moved to Petco Park, where two games were played (the 2020 Holiday Bowl was canceled after UCLA pulled out due to Covid-19 related issues on the day of the game).

The exact date and time of this year's DirecTV Holiday Bowl is still TBD.
