Padres beat Phillies 5-2 in series finale

The Padres snapped their 5-game losing streak with a 5-2 win over the Phillies on Wednesday. Matt Waldron was excellent, allowing just 1 earned run in 7 innings of work. The Padres collected 12 hits, including Jackson Merrill's 8th home run of the year and a bases loaded 3-run triple from Kyle Higashioka. Robert Suarez pitched a perfect 9th inning to earn his 18th save of the season, bouncing back nicely after blowing his first save of the season on Tuesday. The Padres now return home for a 4-game series against the Brewers.
