The Padres won their third consecutive home game in walk-off fashion, this time thanks to a 2-out solo homer from Jake Cronenworth. The Padres took advantage of the long ball on Thursday night, blasting 4 home runs. After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the 1st inning, the Padres responded with 4 in the bottom of the 1st, thanks to a 3-run homer from Manny Machado, followed by a solo shot from the surging Jackson Merrill. Fernando Tatis Jr. joined in on the fun with a solo shot in the 5th to make it a 5-3 Padres lead. Things got interesting in the 9th inning, when Mike Shildt brought in Jeremiah Estrada to close out the game despite having pitched the two previous nights. Estrada walked the leadoff hitter Christian Yelich, and ultimately yielded 2 runs on that walk plus 2 hits and a wild pitch. That set the state for Cronenworth's heroics in the bottom of the 9th inning. Dylan Cease will take the mound for the Padres on Friday night.
