The Padres came from behind to beat the Rangers 6-4 on Wednesday night, thanks in large part to David Peralta's first home run in brown and gold. After Manny Machado's 2-run homer in the 3rd put the Padres on top 2-0, the Rangers immediately responded with 3 runs of their own. Luis Arraez tied the game at 4 with an opposite field RBI-single in the 6th inning. In the top of the 6th, David Peralta blasted a 427 foot 2-run homer to center field to put the Padres on top 6-4.

Adam Mazur struggled again, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits in just 4 innings, but Yuki Matsui and Adrian Morejon combined for 3 scoreless innings. Jeremiah Estrada entered in the 8th, and struck out the first two batters he faced, but then gave up a single to Nathaniel Lowe, bringing the tying run to the plate. Mike Shildt opted to bring in Robert Suarez to attempt a 4-out save. The presumed All-Star closer got Jonah Heim to ground out to end the 8th, and then pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning to earn his 21st save of the season, as San Diego's bullpen combined to too 5 scoreless frames. The Padres will send Michael King to the mound on the 4th of July to wrap up their series against Max Scherzer and the Rangers.
