The Padres lost to the Diamondbacks 7-5 in 10 innings on Saturday night, leaving the bases loaded to end the game. Matt Waldron delivered another quality start for the Padres, but they trailed 4-1 entering the 7th inning. Jurickson Profar drove in Ha-Seong Kim with an RBI-double. Jake Cronenworth laid down a perfect bunt down the third base line with 2 outs and beat the throw, allowing Luis Arraez to score from third. Kim then tied the game with a 2-out RBI-double. After Arizona rallied for 3 runs in the top of the 10th off of Wandy Peralta, the Padres positioned themselves for a second straight night of walk-off magic. Manny Machado drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the 10th to bring the tying-run to the plate. Donovan Solano then blasted a double over Corbin Carroll's head, driving in Jake Cronenworth from 1st base. With runners at 2nd and 3rd base, Jackson Merrill drew a walk to load the bases with no outs and the Padres trailing by 2. But Bryce Johnson and Ha-Seong Kim each struck out, and Kyle Higashioka flew out to end the game and leave the bases loaded. The Padres will send Dylan Cease to the mound for Sunday's series finale.
