Starting rotation continues to shine for Padres in 9-4 win

The Padres earned their 7th consecutive win with a 9-4 victory over the Orioles on Saturday, guaranteeing them a series win over the 1st place Orioles with a chance to sweep on Sunday. The Padres have gotten a quality start in each of their 8 games since the All-Star break, with Michael King the latest to turn in such a performance. King pitched into the 7th inning after efficiently navigating 6 scoreless frames, and exited the game with 2 runners aboard that would ultimately come around to score and be charged to him.

The Padres totaled 14 hits, including Xander Bogaerts finding his power stroke and going 3-5 with 2 doubles and a triple, and Manny Machado going 3-5 including a 3-run blast, which allowed him to collect his 1,000th career RBI in the stadium where his career began. Randy Vasquez will toe the rubber on Sunday as the Padres aim to sweep their second consecutive road series.
