The Padres trounced the Rockies 10-2 on Sunday to conclude their 5-game homestand against the Dodgers and Rockies with a 4-1 record. Matt Waldron bounced back from a rough start against the Dodgers, allowing just one run while striking out seven in 5.2 innings pitched. The game was tied at 1 apiece entering the bottom of the 5th, which was the first of three consecutive innings the Padres offense put runs on the board. Kyle Higashioka and Jurickson Profar each hit solo homers in the 5th to make it a 3-1 game. David Peralta followed up a fantastic defensive play where he robbed a likely home run, by blasting a 3-run homer of his own in the 6th inning to break the game wide open. That would be all the run support the Padres' bullpen would need, as they continued to pile on and win 10-2. The Padres will get some rest on Monday while they travel to Pittsburgh for a showdown with the Pirates in a series that will have wild card implications.
