Aztecs fall in MWC Tournament Championship Game

San Diego State lost to New Mexico 68-61 in the Mountain West Conference tournament championship on Saturday afternoon after having reached the title game for the 7th consecutive season. Jaedeon LeDee led the Aztecs in scoring with 25 points including a perfect night from the charity stripe, sinking all 11 free throw attempts. LeDee was the only Aztec to score in double figures, as the team's offense struggled mightily, including Lamont Butler making just 2 of his 13 field goal attempts.

After trailing by 6 points at the half and by 11 points just 2 minutes into the second half, San Diego State took a 1 point lead on a Reese Waters jumper with just over 12 minutes remaining in the game. After several lead changes, SDSU held a slim lead until Jaelen House made two free throws with 4:26 remaining to tie the game. The Aztecs scored just two more points the rest of the game on a LeDee dunk after the game was mostly out of hand. The Aztecs will await their NCAA Tournament fate on Selection Sunday.
