Padres secure series win, eye sweep of Pirates

The Padres secured their 9th win in 10 games and 8th consecutive series win with a 3-0 victory over the Pirates on Tuesday night, reaching a season high 15 games over .500. Michael King was fantastic, as he struck out 10 Pirates without issuing a walk over 6 scoreless innings. From there, the game went just as AJ Preller drew it up at the trade deadline, with Jason Adam, Tanner Scott and Robert Suarez each pitching a scoreless inning to secure the win. It was a fairly drama-free game, with Manny Machado putting the Padres up 1-0 with a sac-fly in the 1st. David Peralta blasted a solo homer in the 5th inning, and Machado added on a crucial insurance run in the 8th inning. The Padres will go for both the series and season sweep of the Pirates on Wednesday afternoon.
