<body><div><figure><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=4EaNEZ_0wBHX4Cv00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=4EaNEZ_0wBHX4Cv00" width="980" height="653" ><figcaption>Matt Sparx</figcaption></figure><p>A <a href="https://kekbfm.com/tags/northern-colorado/">Northern Colorado</a> driver got quite the hefty ticket last week when Fort Collins Police, Colorado State Patrol, and the Larimer County Sheriff's Office conducted an enforcement operation that was targeting actions such as street racing and other dangerous driving actions.</p><p>According to F<a href="https://www.facebook.com/fortcollinspoliceservices/posts/pfbid04a4Z4ieRHd2dixTpJkYSLQRnCFYQZHVMJXnBP8YFS25DJ39MCRmLhCtJdfnSDGPfl">ort Collins Police Services</a>, more than 40 units hit the streets of <a href="https://kekbfm.com/tags/fort-collins/">Fort Collins</a> and <a href="https://kekbfm.com/tags/larimer-county/">Larimer County</a> making more than 120 stops on the evening of Friday, September 27. One of these drivers cited for unsafe driving was a person driving 99 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone.</p><blockquote><p>Nowhere within the city limits or Larimer County is ninety-nine miles per hour an acceptable or legal driving speed. We appreciate partnerships with our law enforcement neighbors which allow us to blanket the area with concentrated pressure and amplify the message that dangerous driving will not be tolerated.</p></blockquote><p>Said Fort Collins Police Chief, Jeff Swoboda, in the release on Facebook.</p><p>Out of the 129 traffic stops during the enforcement, three DUI arrests, one warrant arrest, and 44 citations were issued. Nearly 40 percent of the traffic stops during this enforcement operation were motorcycles.</p><p>In the first six months of 2024, there have been 294 people that have died on the roads of Colorado. 47 of these deaths in the first half of 2024 were pedestrians. While this may seem like a high number of fatalities, there has been a 23 percent decrease in pedestrian deaths compared to 2023.
