Louisiana Schools Need to Have This Talk With Parents

School is back in session and parents are racing to get their kids to and from school.

While students sometimes struggle to return to school, the same can be said for parents as kids return to campus.

In the the morning it’s a race to get the kids up, dress them, and make sure they’re in their classroom on time. Any parent who drops their kid(s) off at school will tell you at times it can be a nightmare, because of traffic and school zones.

For those who pick their kids up after school, the headache returns later in the day. The pick-up line at some schools is a nightmare, and to make matters worse, some don’t mind cutting the line.

If you don’t know, yes some parents will cut other parents waiting in line, and often the ones who are cutting show up last minute to get in line.

In recent years that has been a hot discussion amongst parents on social media, and some parents have had enough. We aren’t two weeks into the new school year, and I have seen several parents complain about the habitual line cutters and some parents have even notified school administrators.

So, with that said, it may be time for schools to remind parents to act like parents and not cut others waiting in line to drop off or pick up their kids. Sadly, that discussion has to be had because some parents have no respect for others.

If your child’s school has already had this discussion with parents, consider yourself lucky because several schools neglect this tough conversation. And let’s say this, schools should NOT have to bring this up, but it is time.

Schools that are aware of those who cut the line may not be able to discipline anyone who cuts the car rider line, but you can let some line cutters know that their behavior and daily practices are unacceptable.

So, if you have been the victim of someone cutting you in the car rider line, rest assured that you are not the only one who has been disrespected. And to those cutting the line every day, quit acting like you don’t know what you’re doing and be a better parent.
