Watch Louisiana Heat Melt Everyday Things

Temperatures in Louisiana continue to stay steady around the 98-degree mark for us here in Acadiana. Our heat indices are in the area between 105 and 115. With temperatures being this hot, we have to take care of ourselves because everyday things are just melting because of this heat. If those things are melting then what’s happening in our bodies.

This summer seems to be pretty brutal just like last year’s temperatures. No one needs to tell you it’s hot because you are battling to stay cool each day.

Let’s face it. It’s so hot we are even doing stories and watching other reports of stories featuring things that are melting.

Do you remember this from our colleague Joe Cunningham? It’s pretty rough when one of the best-loved icons has his face melt off !

If the plastic on a Buc-ee’s sign melts off in the heat, then we obviously need to take care of ourselves. On a basic level, two of our major organs constantly take a hit from excessive heat. Staying hydrated is key to avoiding injury and death especially when it comes to our hearts and our brains .

Now, check out this post from the National Weather Service in Shreveport. This is a great visual representation of what happens to sensitive items in extreme heat. This is a fascinating look at how heat can melt us and other things quickly.
