We moved here in 1969 the day after the Halloween Blizzard. I was 6, we had no winter gear, and the moving truck didn’t arrive for a month. There was snow the first week of school (back when school started after Labor Day) every year I was in elementary school. Winter also lasted until the end of May. I have a picture of me building a snowman on June 7, 1971. It wasn’t until the late 70s that snow season started to get shorter.
