New Woods Coffee Location Planned for Lynden

LYNDEN, WA — A Tenant Improvement Permit has been filed for a new Woods Coffee location in the upcoming Lynden Commons shopping center, which will also house a MOD Pizza and is located next to Taco Bell. This new Woods Coffee will feature a drive-thru, offering added convenience for its patrons. According to the City of Lynden planning department in an Email to Bellingham Metro News, the project is still in its early stages and is currently under review.

Woods Coffee, a beloved local chain, was founded in 2002 by the Herman family in Lynden, Washington. The family's dream of creating a chain of coffee shops led to the opening of their first location at Bender Plaza. Currently, Woods Coffee operates two locations in Lynden, and this new spot will be its third if everything goes as planned.

Although this will be their third current location in Lynden, WA, it will actually be Woods Coffee's fourth location in the town. There used to be a third Woods Coffee location many years ago at 8071 Guide Meridian Rd Ste 103, next door to the right of Modern Nails and Spa in Present day Lynden.

Over the years, Woods Coffee has garnered several accolades, including being named the Green Business of the Year in 2008 by the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The same year, The Bellingham Herald recognized Woods Coffee as the best local coffee in its annual awards issue. Expanding beyond its roots, Woods Coffee opened its first King County location in Bellevue in 2016 and eventually ventured internationally with a location in Tsawwassen, British Columbia, although this Canadian store closed in 2019.

As of 2024, Woods Coffee has approximately 20 locations across Washington State, according to MyNorthwest. The company's headquarters is located at 191 18th St, Lynden, WA, adjacent to their Front Street location.

The new Woods Coffee at Lynden Commons promises to continue the tradition of excellent service and quality coffee that the community has come to love.
