Video shows massive tornado damage that 'devastated' Wynne, Arkansas

Video showed the destruction a tornado left in its wake in Wynne, Arkansas, on March 31, 2023.

In an April 1, 2023, press release, Jennifer Hobbs, the mayor of Wynne, Arkansas, wrote that the tornado struck the City of Wynne around 4:30 p.m. on March 31, 2023.

“The community has been devastated by this event,” the mayor wrote. “The extent of the damage is unknown and the number of casualties has not been determined at this time.”

She wrote: “Our main priority remains search and rescue operations. This is a slow process but crews are working as fast as possible to safely clear the roadways and debris to be able to get to the affected areas.”

Videos posted to Facebook showed massive devastation in Wynne neighborhoods.

Photos also showed the devastation.

The mayor said in the news release that crews “have been working throughout the night and have began operations today attempting to rescue trapped persons, clear streets, and secure the damaged properties. Agencies from all over Arkansas have provided assistance from equipment and operators to law enforcement and medical personnel to food and shelter for the displaced.”

Shelter and feeding centers have been set up at the Assembly of God Church on Killough Rd., the Wynne Baptist Church on Bridges Ave., The O’Dell McCallum Center, and the Wynne Junior High School.

“A donation collection center has been set at 187 Murray Ave. If you would like to volunteer at the collection center please go to that location. Heavy equipment and physical labor volunteers should report to the EACC Tech Center on Falls Blvd.,” the release said.
