    Tupelo Police report home invasion on Monday night

    A home invasion by multiple suspects involving an occupied dwelling is under investigation according to a press release from the Tupelo Police Department.

    Tupelo Police are currently investigating a burglary of an inhabited dwelling that occurred in Tupelo on Monday night, July 15th. At approximately 11:00PM a resident in the 400 block of Goodlett Street reported that his residence had been broken into while he was home.

    The victim heard a loud sound coming from the rear of his residence and armed himself with a firearm. He then saw an unknown person with a mask inside his home. During the incident, the victim shot his firearm and saw at least three people running away from the rear of the residence.

    The masked suspect was wearing all black and appeared to have a firearm in his hand. The second was wearing a black shirt and black pants while the third suspect wore black pants and a grey shirt. They were last seen running toward Robbins Field on Jefferson Street.

    A nearby witness heard the shots and soon afterward saw a silver, older model Toyota 4-Runner quickly leaving the area eastbound on W. Jackson Street. No injuries were reported and evidence was recovered from the scene.
