The Costa Mesa Police Dept. is investigating a gang related shooting involving juveniles

The Costa Mesa Police Department is aware that the community on Nextdoor and on social media are discussing a shooting that occurred on Monday, July 22, at around 2:30pm at the 700 block of Hamilton Street . The CMPD has issued a community message about an open Gang investigation of this incident.

The incident resulted in one injury to the shoulder that was not life threatening and is an active Gang investigation without an arrest.

Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact Gang Investigator E. Molina at714.754.5694.

As this investigation progresses, the CMPD will not be releasing further information as this incident invoIves juveniIes, and the CMPD is prohibited by law from discussing juvenile matters.

In connection to the Monday incident, residents may see an increased police presence in Westside Costa Mesa.
