People in San Francisco take their coffee seriously and so does chef Ellard. That's why he was stoked to find the best coffee in SF right in his neighborhood. The owner Oliver refurbished a 60 year old Gaggia espresso machine and started a small, pop up coffee spot on Polk Street. Best West Hawai'i Island Seafood Market
Chef Ellard takes you to his favorite seafood market on the West side of Hawai'i Island in Kona. If you want fresh seafood the best thing is to catch it yourself. The second best option in Kona is Kona Cold lobster at the Natural Energy Lab South of the Kona airport. They pump water in from 2,000 feet to keep their fresh crabs, lobster, oysters, abalone, mussels and clams in. Chef Ellard visits One Moe Pizza in Lower Puna on the Big Island of Hawai'i. Best BBQ in Dallas
Chef Ellard hits up Terry Black's BBQ in the Deep Ellum section of Dallas. This is considered one of the best BBQ places in Texas. Ellard takes a pit tour and since Central Texas is about brisket, Ellard goes for that. But the giant, beef ribs look mighty good. The food was excellent and the service was on point. Chef Ellard highly recommends this BBQ joint if you're in Dallas.
Most Authentic Hawaiian Style Bar in Kona
Chef Ellard goes to Kanaka Kava Bar to sample the Polynesian root drink known as kava. In Hawai'i, kava is called awa. At this bar, they serve awa made from roots grown on the island and harvested weekly. They also have Hawaiian food, including poi and other authentic Hawaiian dishes. Half Moon Bay Fishing - Catch and Cook
Chef Ellard goes fishing with his friends on Half Moon Bay. A good day's fishing yields several species of Rockfish and two Ling Cod. The fish are filleted and deep fried to perfection.
