“Indiana is celebrating win after win thanks to our strategic focus on cultivating a globally minded, future economy,” Gov. Accompanied by First Lady Janet Holcomb and Indiana Secretary of Commerce David Rosenberg, Governor Holcomb will be traveling with representatives from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC). The delegation will depart Indianapolis on July 20, returning on July 30.
Strengthening Trade Ties
Indiana already enjoys robust trade relationships with both regions, with combined imports and exports reaching approximately $2.75 billion. The state hosts numerous businesses from Australia and Singapore, while key Indiana-based companies such as Eli Lilly and Company and Zimmer Biomet have a significant presence in these markets.
Agenda in Australia
The delegation's first stop will be Sydney, where Governor Holcomb will meet with U.S. and Australian officials, including New South Wales Minister for Agriculture Tara Moriarty and U.S. Consul General Christine Elder. Key discussions will focus on economic and policy connections, particularly in innovation and manufacturing.
A roundtable at the University of Sydney’s U.S. Studies Centre will feature the governor and other leaders discussing Indiana’s leadership role in the U.S. and globally. Meetings with executives from companies like Rux Energy, which focuses on green hydrogen, will further underscore Indiana’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
The delegation will then travel to Melbourne to meet with Victorian officials and American Chamber of Commerce leaders. Discussions will revolve around partnerships in advanced manufacturing, defense, energy, and life sciences.
Engagement in Singapore
In Singapore, known for its business-friendly environment and advanced infrastructure, the delegation will meet with government officials and Enterprise Singapore representatives. These meetings aim to boost trade, investment, and innovation between Indiana and Singapore.
A business roundtable hosted by Enterprise Singapore will offer Governor Holcomb and Secretary Rosenberg a platform to pitch Indiana as a prime destination for Singaporean businesses looking to expand into the U.S.
Indiana’s Global Economic Vision
Governor Holcomb’s trip highlights Indiana’s dedication to global economic engagement. The state is home to over 1,050 foreign-owned businesses, with significant foreign investment resulting in thousands of new jobs for Hoosiers. This trip marks the governor’s 24th international economic development mission, reflecting his ongoing commitment to securing Indiana’s position in the global market.
