A bold claim but we’re going for it: here’s the funniest movies of all time! At least according to people on the internet, that is.

While comedy is subjective I’m sure you’ll find at least one movie you like on this list! A few of these are indisputable as comedy gold while others might be your next discovery for a laugh.
Night Shift (1982)
Funny and provocative, Night Shift is the strangest movie you’ve probably never heard of. Starring several movie greats like Michael Keaton, Henry Winkler, and Shelley Long it’s about a guy who quits his stressful job as a stockbroker to take an easier one: nighttime morgue attendant.
While he doesn’t need the money his coworker does; and he allows a local prostitute to use the morgue as a brothel at night.
Anyway, it’s hilarious. Watch it.
See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989)
The title sounds like horror but this comedy is, at best, a thriller. Then why the name? Well the “see” part is Richard Pryor, who plays a blind man, and the “hear” is Gene Wilder as a deaf man. They have to work together to catch a murderer.
Hot Fuzz (2007)
There’s no question that Hot Fuzz is one of the funniest movies of all time. A mix of action and comedy, this movie delivers nonstop unexpected twists (and jokes) from start to finish. Easily Edgar Wright’s best film!
Blazing Saddles (1974)
You could insert any Mel Brooks film into this list and it’ll fit but Blazing Saddles is probably his funniest work. It’s essentially a parody of old western movies, but with a postmodernist twist.
What does that mean, exactly? I won’t spoil it, but Blazing Saddles has won several awards, is preserved in the National Film Registry, and was number 6 on the American Film Institute's “100 Years… 100 Laughs” list released in the year 2000.
Dumb & Dumber (1994)
Jumping from a historical film like Blazing Saddles to something like Dumb & Dumber seems wrong, but this movie deserves its place amongst the comedy greats, too! Sometimes a movie can be” turn off your brain and enjoy” - Dumb & Dumber definitely fits that description.
What We Do in the Shadows (2014)
Before the show (with the same name) came out there was a What We Do in the Shadows movie. And it was absolutely hilarious. If you’re not familiar with this series, it stars three vampires who are living together and trying to cope with modern life after being alive so long.
Airplane! (1980)
The point of Airplane! was to spoof 1970s disaster movies and it delivered on all accounts. What’s the disaster, you ask? Everyone on the flight has been suddenly stricken with food poisoning!
Surreal, dark, and full of slapstick-style comedy, Airplane! Is almost universally considered to be one of the funniest movies of all time.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
A classic! There are few movies that have stood the test of time quite like Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The comedy is timeless too.. Probably because it’s set in the middle ages!
My Cousin Vinny (1992)
While My Cousin Vinny isn’t always laugh out loud funny, what makes it so good is that it does funny without being too over the top. Plus you can’t be Joe Pesci’s acting style!
Borat (2006)
Regardless of how you personally feel about Borat’s comedy style it’s impossible to disagree that this movie was a “great success”. For fans, though, it can easily be called the funniest movie of all time, or at least one of their top 10.
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (1987)
When a snowstorm grounds Steve Martin’s character’s flight he sets off on an adventure to get himself home to his family by Thanksgiving - by any means necessary. That should be enough to convince you but if it isn’t: it also stars John Candy.
Tropic Thunder
With a hilarious cast (so many comedy legends!) Tropic Thunder is easily one of the funniest action-parody movies out there. Long story short, it’s about a group of action heroes who are filming a war movie who are forced to be soldiers for real.
