7 Simple Daily Habits To Embrace a More Minimalist Lifestyle

There is so much joy to be discovered through simple and minimalist living. By removing all the excess stuff and fluff from your immediate environment, you get to identify your priorities and make more room for the things that you love or matter most to you.

Minimalism is great for several reasons, but it also offers a range of benefits, including improved mood, focus, and productivity, and it can even increase overall well-being. Whether you're on a quest to embrace minimalism or just out to revamp your current minimalist efforts, this list is for you. Read on to learn more about how you can embrace minimalism in your life.

    Practice Cleaning as You Go

There's nothing worse than having a sink that's fully loaded with dirty dishes that have been piling up over a few days. Cleaning as you go could avoid this nasty occurrence, and developing this clean-as-you-go habit is a great way to practice minimalism. This can be applied to all areas of the home, and not only the kitchen.

    Practice 'One-Item-In, One-Item-Out'

To avoid having doubles of everything or just plain clutter. Be sure to always follow the one-in, one-out rule whenever adding new items to your home. This can be applicable when shopping for clothes, kitchenware, decor, and pretty much everything that goes in a house that's not food.

    Make Lists

Instead of dwelling around in supermarkets wondering if you still have cereal or ketchup at home, it would be really helpful to make grocery lists when you go shopping. To avoid pantry clutter, you can try to stick to the list as best as possible. Only add additional things you need right now but can use later on if they are on sale or discounted.

    Try the 90-90 Trick

If you're faced with an item that you want to get rid of to declutter your home but you aren't too sure you want to let go, then you can try the 90-90 trick. Ask yourself if you have used this item in the last 90 days and if the answer is no, can you think of needing it in the coming 90 days?

If the answer is still no, then you should probably chuck it because it may be wasting space. If the answer is yes to one or both questions, then it's probably still adding value to your life.

    Conserve Energy

Conserving what we have and reducing waste and, thereby, energy is a big part of practicing minimalism.

    Work With What You Have

Instead of buying new food ingredients to concoct new recipes, why not make use of the foods you already have in your pantry? The same is true for clothing items.

    Rethink Gifting Others

It's so easy to make an impulsive purchase when it comes to gift-giving. Instead, we need to focus on giving clutter-free gifts to incorporate minimalism not only in our lives but also in the lives of the ones dear to us. Focusing on experiences is a better way to give gifts as a minimalist. Think of concert tickets, spa vouchers, a dinner at a fancy restaurant, etc.
