On a recent Saturday night, the streets of Charlotte, North Carolina, became a scene of chaos and conflict as a protest led by over 200 Eritrean migrants turned violent, adding another chapter to the growing narrative of migrant unrest in American cities. Ignoring the elephant in the room only prolongs the suffering and perpetuates a cycle of conflict and instability.

It's imperative that policymakers and leaders engage in honest conversations about immigration reform and find sustainable solutions that balance compassion with accountability. Merely turning a blind eye to the challenges at hand is not an option, as evidenced by the events unfolding on the streets of Charlotte.
