Opinion: Katie Britt's Response to Biden's SOTU Speech Seemed Forced

Alabama Senator Katie Britt was chosen to give the GOP response to Biden's State of the Union speech. Her rebuttal has received a fair amount of negative criticism from both sides. Here is the video of her response, in case you want to see it yourself.

From her perceived insincerity to her choice of location for her rebuttal, almost every aspect of her response has received some form of negative comment. It wasn't just from Democrats that all the negative comments came from, either.

Even people widely considered Republicans felt that Katie Britt's speech missed the mark. Unfortunately, I agree. Her rebuttal did more damage than good; it didn't address some of the very disturbing or downright untrue statements from Biden's speech. It didn't provide an explanation of her initial support for or her part in Biden's so-called bipartisan border bill.

What it did do was make people feel like the GOP is disingenuous. and melodramatic. It showed people that, beyond a shadow of doubt, the majority of Republican politicians are just that, politicians. They have no clue about the issues the people they represent care about most or the hardships they face.

This X post from the AL.com account compares Katie Britt's natural voice to the strange performance she displayed during her speech, and I think it highlights the main issue many seemed to share.

I really hope her failure with this response was due more to her lack of experience as opposed to her being that out of touch with not only Alabamians but conservative Americans as a whole.
