Florida's border agents are preparing for a possible influx of Haitian migrants fleeing violence unleashed by gang takeovers, according to a leaked internal email obtained by the New York Post. The email warns that repatriating migrants might not be feasible due to Haiti's dire situation and urges agents to be on high alert for potential fraudulent family claims.

The email cites the country's descent into chaos, with gang violence causing roughly 15,000 people to be internally displaced within days, according to the UN. The gangs' reign of terror includes burning buildings, looting, and attacks on essential infrastructure, leading to hospital closures, disease outbreaks, and starvation.

Given this instability, the email expresses concern that the U.S. may be unable to send migrants back to Haiti. This, coupled with the potential overwhelming number of arrivals, could severely strain Border Patrol's resources. The email warns that "one landing will cripple the station and our ability to respond to other traffic."

Border Patrol agents anticipate difficulties in containing large groups upon arrival, transporting them for processing, and identifying fraudulent family claims. The email highlights the challenges of ensuring genuine parent-child relationships among migrants.

The situation in Haiti and the potential migration surge raise critical questions about U.S. border security and its capacity to handle humanitarian crises.
