Tennessee Vols predicted to land elite 5-star recruit just a week before his commitment announcement

The Tennessee Vols appear to be on the verge of making another huge recruiting splash.

On3's Steve Wiltfong predicted on Friday that 2025 five-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr will commit to Tennessee on August 17 when he announces his decision.

Chad Simmons, another On3 recruiting analyst, has also made a prediction for Tennessee to land Sanders.

Wiltfong noted that Sanders' relationship with Tennessee's current commits is a big factor that's working in the Vols' favor.

"Sanders relationship with the Tennessee’s current commits is the best of his finalists," wrote Wiltfong . "The time spent around the coaching staff, he feels he can be developed by position coach Glen Elarbee similar to that of Darnell Wright."

Sanders, 6-foot-6/290 lbs from Charlotte, NC, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 1 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 2 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class. This is the type of player that has top five NFL draft potential.

Tennessee currently has the No. 8 2025 recruiting class in the nation. Landing Sanders could push Tennessee's class into the top five.
