Adam Thielen has seen the best and worst of second-year Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young.

As head coach Dave Canales continues to build the offense around Young's strongest skills, Thielen likes the new comfort Young is playing with in his second training camp.

"I think it's him just feeling comfortable and trusting in it," Thielen said, via the Panthers' official website . "I would imagine a lot of it is just comfortable in the system and what he's doing in his footwork."

Thielen continued: "He's going through his reads, he's finding guys in rhythm and timing. Not to say that he wasn't on time. He was probably too on time sometimes last year just because [of] the way that he sees the game, he can see coverage, [and] he can see things processing quicker than a lot of guys."

Sunday wasn't Young's best day. He threw an interception early in practice to safety Xavier Woods on a deep pass. Encouraging was the willingness of Young to push the ball downfield, despite the adverse effects that may happen.

"We've got to challenge our throws, we got to challenge ourselves and the receivers as well for those opportunities," Canales said. "We're going to look at it. We're going to see what happened, and you know where exactly Xavier was in the play. But if we're not getting interceptions, we're not trying."

Despite the positives seen from Young throughout practice, Thielen said he doesn't necessarily see a reason for the Panthers offense to play in the preseason.

He also praised Canales' plan for the offense and progression he has seen.

"No, I don't think so," Thielen said when asked if the offense must play in the preseason. "That's not my decision, but I think the way that you can tell that the coaches have a very clear plan."

So far, Thielen likes the plan he has seen for Young moving forward.
