Former Tennessee Vols defensive back Jaylen McCollough had an impressive NFL preseason debut for the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

McCollough, who was signed by the Rams as an undrafted free agent earlier this spring, led Los Angeles with five solo tackles in the team's 13-12 win against the Dallas Cowboys.

The former Vol made a highlight reel play in the third quarter, quickly making a nice tackle for no gain on a short pass play.

McCollough is hoping to make the Rams' 53-man roster, but he has an uphill climb to get there due to his status an undrafted free agent.

The Athletic's latest 53-man roster projection for the Rams doesn't include McCollough. But his performance against the Cowboys on Sunday could certainly help his case.

McCollough totaled 242 tackles, six interceptions, and two sacks during his five seasons with the Vols. A player with that much SEC experience could definitely be valuable to an NFL team. At the very least, McCollough should land on a practice squad with a high probability of being active at some point in 2024.
