A few years ago you could say that the Denver Broncos had the best safety in all of football in Justin Simmons. And, he was still very good last year, just not quite that level. However, the team decided to move one and they signed P.J. Locke to a big deal. Ever since then, Simmons has somehow remained a free agent.

There have been a handful of safeties who are worse than Simmons, who get new deals with new teams this offseason. Some of them are around the same age, too. So, what's going on? Is it that he's asking for too much money? It can't be, at least from everything we have heard. So, what's the next step?

After getting a few workouts recently, and a few rumors of him supposedly signing with both the Houston Texans and the New Orleans Saints, there is official news that says he could be finally signing with a new team. First, he has to get the visit out of the way, but this one seems to be the one.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Atlanta Falcons are visiting with Simmons, shortly after he visited with the Saints. The Falcons have a pretty good secondary but are facing some pretty crucial injuries, which, makes for a good reason to give the former All-Pro a shot.

Simmons is just 30 years old, and putting a player like him in Raheem Morris' defensive system could be a great fit. Simmons is still a huge name in and around Denver. Fans still love him and were pretty upset that he didn't return to the team. So, if he does sign with the Falcons, you can bet that some of the fan base will follow him there as well.

Simmons deserves this and is still one of the better safeties in the league.
