Shortly after the Minnesota Vikings and head coach Kevin O'Connell announced that rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy is set to have surgery on his knee to repair his meniscus. It's brutal news for the Vikings who were seeing a lot of growth and development.

Amid the news, the Vikings made two roster moves: they signed linebacker Jordan Kunaszyk and waived/injured linebacker Jabril Cox.

The Vikings signed Cox on July 25th and he played only special teams snaps on Saturday afternoon against the Las Vegas Raiders. A fourth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2021, he has struggled with injuries over his short career.

Kunaszyk is entering his sixth NFL season after spending time with three other organizations: Carolina Panthers (2019), Washington Commanders (2020-2021) and Cleveland Browns (2022-2023). Originally an undrafted free agent, he has played in 46 career games and accumulated 45 tackles in those games.

It's interesting to see the Vikings sign a former Cleveland Browns player right before they end up flying out to have joint practices with them in Ohio. Needless to say, he will provide needed depth at linebacker during the duration of training camp.
