Browns make the best move possible with LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah that has a big impact on his future

Cleveland Browns have figured out what will likely be their last contract extension before the 2024 NFL season.

The team has come to an agreement with Pro Bowl linebacker on a three-year deal that is worth up to $39 million. The deal, first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, will have Cleveland guaranteeing $25 million to the star linebacker.

Owusu-Koramoah was scheduled to play on the last year of his four-year deal in 2024, but the Browns have him under contract through the 2027 season now .

Last season was a big jump for Cleveland’s linebacker and it is the reason that he just got paid. JOK had 101 tackles, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions, and a forced fumble in 16 games last season. His 20 tackles for a loss led all linebackers in the NFL.

It is a deal that likely makes JOK the No. 6 paid linebacker in the NFL and it gives him the ability to cash in once again in just a couple of years. The 24-year-old linebacker was a second-round pick by the Browns in the 2021 NFL Draft and has shaped himself into one of the game's best linebackers.

Back in June, Owusu-Koramoah was asked about his contract situation and was more focused on football . He sounded a lot like a guy that knew it was going to get done, just a matter of when.

“Well, it’s about compartmentalization. There’s a time for it, and then there’s a time to focus on football. You know, there’s a difference,” explained JOK. “You know, you may go home, and maybe six o’clock at night, you’re done studying, and then, okay, you may get some time to it, but there’s always a time and place for everything.”

Following a tough season with injuries in 2022, Owusu-Koramoah put it all together to get a big payday. Simply put, you have to be happy for the guy because he has worked for this.
