NASHVILLE - The Seattle Seahawks are in Nashville for joint practices with the Tennessee Titans this week. Wednesday kicked off the first of two practices leading up to Saturday's preseason game between the two sides.

Joint practices are almost a good litmus test for how your roster (and starting lineup) stacks up against another. It's an opportunity to get more valuable reps that are (almost) as competitive as game reps.

Here are my notes and takeaways from everything that happened in Wednesday's joint practice between the Titans and Seahawks.

    Notes and Takeaways

    - Jha'Quan Jackson broke two long touchdowns, One came in 7-on-7, and the other was in full team period off of a pass from Mason Rudolph. Jackson ran a slant over the middle and caught the ball 8-10 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. The rookie proceeded to turn on the jets and blow by everybody for an explosive 75-yard touchdown.

    - Tight end Nick Vannett returned to practice and was very involved in the offense. He had 4-5 catches of note.

    - Head coach Brian Callahan said that the Titans had no injuries of note suffered in Wednesday's practice. There was, however, a significant amount of cramping that caused some brief scares. T'Vondre Sweat, JC Latham, and Treylon Burks all came off the field with a cramp. Sweat and Latham both returned to practice after getting checked out by a trainer. Burks was removed from practice, likely because he started cramping at the very end of practice.

    - While Latham was out, veteran offensive tackle Geron Christian was in at left tackle with the first-team offense.

    - Calvin Ridley did not have his best practice. Ridley was handled nicely by Riq Wollen during 1-on-1s. Later on, Ridley had a couple of opportunities to make a play on a deep ball from Will Levis. Both times Levis took a shot that way, the ball fell incomplete despite Ridley appearing to have seperation,. The veteran wide receiver told Titans media after practice that he was simply not finishing his routes or running hard enough. He'll need to be better.

    - WR Tyler Boyd missed practice on Wednesday with a "bruised foot," according to Titans head coach Brian Callahan. Boyd is only expected to miss a few days. There is a chance he returns as early as Thursday.

    - S Jamal Adams returned to the practice field against his former team after missing over a week with soreness.

    - OL Andrew Rupcich got some more work with the first-team offense at right guard today. Rupcich had a good practice and cleared a couple of big holes for Tyjae Spears to run through during team period.

    - Seahawks defensive backs did a nice job with Titans wide receivers, particularly in the first half of practice. Tennessee's offense was forced to throw a lot of checkdown and short routes during 7-on-7 because of solid coverage. I gave the edge to Seattle in the 1-on-1 period.

    - The Titans defense did a great job controlling the line of scrimmage for the duration of practice against Geno Smith and Sam Howell. T'Vondre Sweat and Jeffery Simmons continue to be forces on the interior.

    - Tennessee recorded six sacks in 12 plays at one point. Sam Howell was sacked on four consecutive reps during 11-on-11.

    - Without L'Jarius Sneed or Chidobe Awuzie practicing, the Titans' secondary had a hard time containing DK Metcalf.

    - It was an impressive day for Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker, who consistently made something out of nothing. Dennard Wilson's aggressive Titans defense was attacking the backfield, but Walker did a nice job of making defenders miss and gaining positive yardage.

    - Wednesday's special teams period was the most lively special teams we have seen in training camp so far. Mason Kinsey made an exceptional special teams play that got the entire Titans sideline fired up and running on the field.

    - The Seahawks were not very disciplined on defense. Seattle picked up a handful of bad penalties, including a helmet-to-helmet hit on Tyjae Spears and a face mask tackle on Kyle Philips.
