Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer is getting the perfect gift just before the start of the 2024 NFL season.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that the New York Giants are trading defensive tackle Jordan Phillips to Dallas.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport adds that the Giants will receive a 2026 sixth-round pick while the Cowboys pick up a seventh-round pick.

Dallas could really use the extra depth behind Mazi Smith and Osa Odighizuwa and now they have it.

Phillips, 31, was originally a second-round pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2015. He's also played for the Arizona Cardinals, had two separate stints with the Buffalo Bills, and spent less than a year in New York before coming to Dallas.

Through nine seasons so far, Phillips has logged 120 games of experience, including 62 starts. He has racked up 181 total tackles, 51 QB hits, 36 tackles for loss, 24 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and an interception.
