Whether looking to get into the 2024 college football betting markets or more interested in how things play out on the field, the preseason award odds give a good view of expectations. The 2024 Doak Award will honor the nation's best running back. Judging by the deep crop of tremendously gifted playmakers, the return of the running back position is here.

The latest Doak Award odds are here, and we're looking at the favorites to win, as well as a few of our top picks. Dive into our top picks below: Ollie Gordon, Quinshon Judkins, and Damien Martinez.

Top College Football Running Backs in 2024

Here are the running backs with the best odds to win the Doak Award, courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook:

    • Ollie Gordon, Oklahoma State (+340)
    • Quinshon Judkins, Ohio State (+430)
    • Ashton Jeanty, Boise State (+750)
    • Damien Martinez, Miami (FL) (+1200)
    • Omarion Hampton, North Carolina (+1500)
    • Jaydn Ott, Cal (+1500)
    • Donovan Edwards, Michigan (+2000)
    • Devin Neal, Kansas (+2600)
    • Jordan James, Oregon (+2600)
    • TreVeyon Henderson, Ohio State (+2600)

The obvious names here, including the leading rusher of 2023, Ollie Gordon, won't surprise anyone. Gordon tallied 1,732 yards and 21 scores on the ground last year, and it's possible he matches those totals in 2024. He's by far the safest and best bet on the board.

But we like value when we bet. While Judkins and Henderson will split time, and Edwards seems to be getting value based on his name and not his overall consistency, we want guys who can get a mixture of volume and spotlight. Check out our best picks below, excluding Gordon.

Best Doak Award Betting Odds and Picks

Omarion Hampton: I think there's a decent chance Omarion Hampton leads the nation in rushing this fall. Gordon received 32 more carries last year, so volume might be an issue. But with Drake Maye in the NFL, Hampton could capitalize and reach 20 rushing touchdowns. He totaled 1,504 yards and 15 rushing scores in 2023.

A slight decrease from Gordon and a slight increase from Hampton could get the job done. The question is whether he'll be in the spotlight enough to really grab the eyes needed to win.

Devin Neal: The main reasons Devin Neal went back to Kansas instead of the NFL was to break some school records and possibly reach the College Football Playoffs. Maybe some NIL money helped, too, but Neal had the chance to be the RB1 in last year's class. The slasher is perfectly made as a slasher at the next level.

With 1,280 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on a 6.3-yard average in 2023, Neal redefined his ceiling. His volume might be an issue this fall as Jalon Daniels gets back on the field, but he'll have a huge TD total and receiving impact.
