NFL analyst says the Lions could trade long time Lion and he's probably right

We're almost to cut down time and if you've been following the Detroit Lions or any other team in the league, then you know crazy things can happen during that time. Stuff like a team cutting or trading a guy that's been around for a long time. One NFL analyst thinks the Lions could be doing the trading thing soon  with one player and he's not crazy to think it.

Bleacher Report's Ryan Fowler picked one player from each team that he thinks should be on the trade block and for the Lions he selected running back Craig Reynolds.

There's no doubt that Reynolds has been good for the Lions since coming to Detroit in 2021, but this year the Lions running back room is doing some special things out there and its going to be harder than ever to figure out who to pick to put on the 53-man roster.

Obviously Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery are locks, but after that Reynolds has to compete with Sione Vaki, Jermar Jefferson, Zonovan Knight and Jake Funk for a spot. Both Vaki and Jefferson have been tremendous during training camp.

That's not to say that Reynolds has looked bad, because he hasn't. But at the end of the day he is 28-years-old and the Lions could look to eye rookie Sione Vaki and 24-year-old Jermar Jefferson to take the spots and have them locked down for the long run. That could push Reynolds out.

There's still a valuable player there that another team would love to have. The Lions could send Reynolds to one of those teams and probably net a late round draft pick for him. Something like a low round sixth or a seventh-round pick would be what the Lions could get.

At the end of the day if the Lions chose the other guys and cut Reynolds, he's not going to clear waivers to come back and make the team's practice squad. There will definitely be teams looking to put in a claim.

We'll have to see what happens here. Reynolds is defintley still in the race for a spot. The Lions may decide to go with him for a fourth season.
