Even a former Indianapolis Colts player couldn't help but admit the Denver Broncos rookie QB balled out

We have heard Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton say a couple of times that Bo Nix was their guy, and, you can't help but believe it now.

He said they never wanted any other quarterback but Nix, and a reason why is because they thought he was special. For some reason, after two pretty amazing seasons at Oregon, Nix was being slept on in the draft. But, hey, that happens more often than it should.

With the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Broncos grabbed Nix and kept the Las Vegas Raiders from grabbing a quarterback to start building around, so, really, it was a win overall. And then to see Nix ball out against the Indianapolis Colts in his first-ever NFL action , was just the cherry on top.

Nix played against NFL talent, whether it was starters or backups. He made throws that should have been caught, with his best throw of the day being an incompletion , and he displayed an uncanny comfortability in the pocket that rookies almost never have. Let's just be real, Nix looked amazing, and while the fan base is going a bit fast, he may have restored humanity in and around Denver.

There is one thing you can say about his performance, that wouldn't be getting too ahead of yourself. Bo Nix balled out, and everyone saw it. Heck, one former Colts player couldn't help but admit it.

Absolutely cooked the Colts," Pat McAfee wrote on Twitter. "Looked incredibly comfortable."

McAfee is primarily known for his show on ESPN which has somewhat taken the sports world by storm, but he was a former Colts player and one of the most memorable punters of all time. So, while he does work for ESPN, he still pulls for his former team all the time. He wouldn't just say that about Nix just to say it.

And, everyone saw it, so you can't really lie. Nix was great, and hopefully, we get to see Sean Payton let him loose a little more against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Can someone explain what “balled out” means, in terms of football, please.

I hope all the best to Bo Nix, and I hope he takes them all the way. That said, until the Denver O-line starts to do their job and protect him, Denver will not go anywhere this season and he will be ridiculed by the Denver fans who are supporting him. This is because the offensive line has a history of bailing on the quarterback that goes back to Elway's time as QB.
