Former Tennessee Vols defensive back Wesley Walker, who transferred to Michigan earlier this offseason, made some comments this week that likely raised some eyebrows on Rocky Top.

Walker, who started his college career at Georgia Tech, was asked by a reporter on Thursday how new Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore compares to the previous head coaches he played under.

"He (Moore) keeps things in order," said Walker . "He makes sure everything flows smooth. Actually, of all the places I've been, I think this is the smoothest flow of practice. It's strictly ball. And that's what it should really always be. It's not a bunch of rah-rah stuff. It's just strictly ball and getting in and getting better."

"The fact that we do a lot of ball, instead of doing a lot of separate stuff," added Walker when asked what makes Michigan's practices so smooth. "We do a lot of good on good team things. That's ultimately how you're going to get better. Going against good on good."

Walker, who is entering his sixth collegiate season, also told reporters that he truly feels like part of a team at Michigan.

"Really the biggest difference here is just the team atmosphere," said Walker. "I feel like I'm really part of a team. Like truly, not being cliche. Ever since I got here, it just had a different feel. It feels more tight-knit. And honestly, with the championship, they don't really even speak about it too much. It's more about just working toward getting another one. We don't talk about it, it's really just putting in the work."

Walker played a significant role for the Vols the last two season after transferring from Georgia Tech. The Lewisburg, TN native totaled 89 tackles, nine tackles for loss, two sacks, and one interception in two seasons at Tennessee.

Despite playing a key role for the Vols the last couple of seasons, Walker entered the NCAA transfer portal shortly after the 2023 season, landing first at Louisville before eventually transferring to Michigan.

It sounds like Walker has found a perfect fit in Ann Arbor.
