With each day that passes, roster cuts are drawing closer and closer for the New England Patriots .

The team has to decide on 53 players to kick off the regular season from the 90 that they have during training camp.

So now that the second preseason game is over, A to Z Sports is releasing three players that may have saved their job and three players that may have lost their job following their performance.

Let's get into the players that struggled.

    1. QB Jacoby Brissett

Listen, Jacoby Brissett is not going to be cut from the team. However, what he might be in jeopardy of is losing that starting role.

The veteran quarterback started the game for the Patriots against the Eagles, but it was not a good showing. Actually, it was probably one of, if not his worst this whole summer.

Brissett started by going three-and-out and then threw an interception in the end zone. He followed it up with another three-and-out before being benched for Maye.

Since the start of the spring, head coach Jerod Mayo has said that the clear No. 1 is Brissett. But after this past preseason game, he didn't say it. Instead, he answered numerous questions regarding the quarterback competition, stating that it's still wide open.

    2. CB Marcellas Dial Jr.

It was a really rough night for the rookie cornerback who the Patriots selected in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He was also the only defensive player to be selected this past year.

Dial really struggled against the Eagles offense, which led to Philadelphia targeting him throughout the night.

He let up seven catches for 87 yards and was involved in allowing the two-point conversion that gave the Eagles the win.

The younger cornerbacks have gotten increased opportunities since Marcus Jones and Jonathan Jones have been sidelined. But it's still a crowded room and the coaching staff is looking for one main thing from Dial and the others: consistency.

    3. K Chad Ryland

In the preseason games, Ryland hasn't had much to do. All he's been tasked with is the extra points after touchdowns. So with that, every field goal attempt has gone to Joey Slye.

Ryland did not have a solid rookie season, going 16-for-25. He was not reliable and that's why the team brought in a veteran to challenge him.

This final week will be interesting to see if Ryland gets any field goal attempts or if it's all Slye again.

There is still one more game, so nothing is set in stone just yet. Let's see if they can bounce back.
