Making sense of a flurry of Buffalo Bills injuries before second preseason game

Buffalo Bills fans, yesterday was a day, and not necessarily a good one, but we're going to breathe through it and get through it together.

Headlined by star linebacker Matt Milano being lost indefinitely with a torn biceps, there seem to be a number of injuries happening to the Bills roster at all once. If your head is spinning, I'm here to help make sense of it all.

    Matt Milano, linebacker

As was previously said, Milano is lost to a biceps tear that apparently took place during individual drills during Tuesday's practice. I'm not sure how that even happens, but it's horrible.

    Edefuan Ulofoshio, linebacker

Edefuan Ulofoshio, a 5th round pick in this year's draft, is excellent in coverage. With all the injuries at the linebacker position mounting, Ulofoshio might hear his name called at some point this season. He returned to practice today after wearing the non-contact jersey the last two practices while working through a rib injury. He seems like he's good to go.

    Baylon Spector, linebacker

Another injury to a linebacker, which is not great. Baylon Spector seems to always be banged up, or worse. Now back from a broken back that he suffered on a special teams play, Spector is now dealing with a calf injury.

    Nicholas Morrow, linebacker

Yes, another linebacker. I'm not joking. Morrow was held out of practice while dealing with a core muscle/groin injury that has plagued him throughout camp.

    Damar Hamlin, safety

The safety position is another one that has been banged up plenty throughout this preseason, which isn't ideal considering the lack of stability at the position after longtime stalwarts on the back end, Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde, moved on (although technically the door still remains open to a Hyde reunion). Hamlin was sidelined for most of practice with a leg injury and had it wrapped, but indicated it was a precaution.

    Cole Bishop, safety

Rookie safety Cole Bishop is still nursing his way back from a left shoulder injury that has kept him out for an extended period of time. A timeline hasn't been set for a return to action.

    Mike Edwards, safety

Veteran safety Mike Edwards, who is competing for a second safety spot opposite Taylor Rapp, is still "week-to-week" with a hamstring injury. At this point, it seems likely that Bishop will be available before Edwards is.

    Dawson Knox, tight end

Dawson Knox seems to be dealing with a calf and a groin. He was seen on the sidelines of the joint practice with his right ankle taped.

    Kaiir Elam, cornerback

Elam was spotted on the sidelined with his pads off, getting oxygen. It's possible that it was heat-related before they elected to shut him down for the day.

    Travis Clayton, offensive line

The former rugby player turned football player is missing out on a ton of reps throughout training camp with a shoulder injury that has held him out for over two weeks.

    Casey Toohill, defensive end

Casey Toohill is dealing with a groin injury, but was spotted on the side of practice putting in a workout.

Players that were sidelined but returned to practice

DE Javon Solomon, LB Terrel Bernard, LB Dorian Williams, CB Cam Lewis

Related: These two Bills players can each cross 1,000 receiving yards in 2024 and there's way too much evidence
