'I can't wait for week one': Vikings superstar WR Justin Jefferson heaps praise on QB Sam Darnold

Joint practices with the Cleveland Browns are over and the Minnesota Vikings learned a lot about their team.

Throughout the two-day event, injuries marred the Vikings in more ways than one. Wide receiver Jordan Addison was the big one, who was carted off on Wednesday. There was fear among the fanbase that it would be a potentially season-ending injury but it appears to be a minor ankle injury.

Without Addison, the Vikings' offense struggled, but some good came from Addison missing practice time.

Chemistry is building between Justin Jefferson and Sam Darnold

The important thing that we got at practice is Darnold throwing to Jefferson. They even connected on a beautiful pass for a touchdown.

Now, a throw during practice doesn't mean everything. It does continue the trend that was developing in practice where the chemistry was growing with both Jefferson and Darnold. The superstar wide receiver spoke to reporters about their developing chemistry.

"It's (chemistry) developing for sure," said Jefferson. "I mean, I didn't, really, didn't have any time with him in OTAs or anything. So, you know, training camp is the real-time that I really, you know, having that chemistry with him, trying to connect with him. But I think that he's been doing a tremendous job. He's been making plays all around he's still learning the system, still trying to get used to everybody, get used to me, how I run my routes, and where I'm at on the field. So that chemistry is definitely coming along. And I can't wait for week one."

With J.J. McCarthy out for the season, all of the focus is on Darnold . Can he take the leap forward and become 2004 Drew Brees ? The more we see Jefferson and Darnold play together will end up being a net positive for the Vikings. Head coach Kevin O'Connell worked wonders with the likes of Josh Dobbs and Nick Mullens last season and Darnold is more talented than they are.

If the Vikings are going to make a run, it will be due to the chemistry of Darnold and Jefferson.
