The Philadelphia Eagles appear to have at least one of their training camp battles figured out.

Offensive lineman Mekhi Becton did not dress in the Eagles' preseason win over the New England Patriots on Thursday night, which is a clear indication that he has won the starting right guard job over Tyler Steen.

However, when asked about Becton winning the job, head coach Nick Sirianni was hesitant to make things official.

“Yeah, we still have some time to think through some things,” Sirianni told reporters. “We’re going to have some really good physical practices next week, almost some operational things, different things like that. So we’ll see. No reason to say anything one way or the other right now because we’re still working through it. So we’ll see.”

Even if Becton isn't officially the starter just yet, the Eagles might not have a choice since Steen left Thursday's game early with an ankle injury and did not return.

The right guard job was initially Steen's to lose after the Eagles moved Cam Jurgens to center to kick off spring. That was, however, until they signed Becton, a 6-foot-7, 363-pound offensive tackle, and started cross-training him at guard.

Becton had never played guard before and the transition hasn't been an easy one for him, but he's looked the part in the short amount of time he's played there, according to his veteran o-line teammate Landon Dickerson.

"A little built of an adjustment for him [Becton], but the way he's built, the way he can move with his long arms, his reach, his lateral quickness, I think right now he's really excelling at that position," Dickerson said . "And it is an adjustment, but he's handling it extremely well. For him to make that transition and come inside, and the way he's been able to succeed in doing well in practice, and come out here every day and keep getting better, is impressive."

It helps that the Eagles have Jeff Stoutland on their side because if there's anyone who knows how to teach a big man to play any position on the offensive line, it's him.

The Eagles have one more preseason game on Aug. 24 against the Minnesota Vikings which will provide even more clarity.
