Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Josh Dobbs put on a show during the San Francisco 49ers' preseason win against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night.

Dobbs, who signed with the 49ers earlier this offseason, passed for 133 yards and rushed for 25 yards and a touchdown in San Francisco's second preseason game.

At one point during the game, Fox announcer/former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was so impressed by Dobbs' scrambling abilities that he quipped that an "air tag" was needed to keep up with where the former Tennessee quarterback was on the field.

"Holy moly, you gotta put an air tag on this guy to figure out where the heck he's been all game," said Sanchez while watching a replay of a Dobbs scramble. "He's been all over the grass. Right side of the field, middle of the field, left of the field. Those plays are exhausting. My hamstrings are getting sore watching this guy."

Dobbs would later somersault into the end zone for the 49ers' only touchdown of the game.

Dobbs is battling veteran quarterback Brandon Allen for the No. 2 quarterback job in San Francisco. Allen would seemingly have an advantage in the battle because he was the 49ers' third-string quarterback in 2023. But Dobbs' performance against the Saints could certainly change some minds in San Francisco.
