The ensuing drama between Haason Reddick and the New York Jets continues as the recently-traded-for edge rusher wants a new deal before he returns to play.

Last week, the situation led to the Jets putting out a strongly worded statement claiming they weren't budging on the contract battle, claiming their "focus will remain on the guys we have here as we prepare for the regular season."

A to Z Sports' Jets beat writer Mike Antoniou applauded the Jets' stance as he outlined what Reddick did as a poor example of doing business:

I have said on numerous occasions that I am all for players getting their money when they can, but there has to be some ethics to the negotiation. You don’t tell a team one thing and then wait for them to make a roster move and then tell them another.

That is reportedly exactly what Reddick did . He made the Jets believe that he was willing to play on his current deal if the Jets were willing to guarantee most of the $14.25 million he had left and then either test free agency, or negotiate an extension during the season. This led to the Jets to trade Jonathan Franklin-Myers to the Denver Broncos . Once JFM was off the team, Reddick thought he had the Jets over a barrel and decided to play dirty.

Falcons' Matthew Judon says what Reddick should

That's why hearing what Matthew Judon just said upon being traded to the Atlanta Falcons is a bit painful for Jets fans. Although the pass rusher was seeking a new deal from the New England Patriots, he wisely interpreted his situation in a recent media availability session with the Falcons:

"The Falcons know nothing about me as a football player or as a man," Judon said via ESPN's Marc Raimondi. "They know my previous resume. I can't really demand or ask for anything I haven't worked for. I'm gonna work for it.

Although Jets shouldn't daydream about it, this is exactly the mindset the team wished Reddick had as well. The financial leverage is on the Jets' side, however, and they'll likely stand on business before Reddick inevitably reports for action.
