It appears as though the Miami Dolphins' log jam at a key position sent one veteran packing on Monday.

RB Salvon Ahmed was released by the Dolphins on Monday among several transactions.

The Dolphins added four new players in RB Anthony McFarland , LB Dequan Jackson, RB Zander Horvath, and WR Jadon Janke.  OL Sean Harlowe and WR Willie Snead IV were added to the reserve/injured list.  They also released Ahmed and waived/injured LB Zeke Vandenburgh.

Ahmed had appeared to become an afterthought in training camp and the preseason, but a foot injury had limited his participation, for which he was put on the active/non-football injury list to start training camp .  It was going to be a big uphill battle to make the roster with Jaylen Wright in the mix and Chris Brooks developing to go with Jeff Wilson, Jr. behind Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane.

Ahmed played in 38 games for Miami from 2020-23.  He was claimed off waivers from San Francisco during final roster cuts in 2020 after signing with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent. He eventually worked his way up to the Dolphins' active roster by October.  For his career, he's totaled 593 yards on 163 attempts with 5 rushing touchdowns to go with 40 catches for 274 yards and one touchdown.

Ahmed's best game as a Dolphin came against the New England Patriots in 2020.  He rushed 23 times for 122 yards and a touchdown in Miami's 22-12 win at home over the Pats.
